Shop Small!

Thanksgiving is our favorite holiday. Meal planning, pie making and table setting are my favorite activities. But the real fun is after Thanksgiving. I LOVE to shop on Small Business Saturday. Nashville has so many wonderful, locally-owned businesses. Lots of neighborhoods are showcasing their small businesses with events and special activities.

Here are my top choices for shopping next week on Small Business Saturday (November 30th):

Phillips Toy Mart – this toy store is amazing. So many selections of favorite brands and one-of-a-kind toys. Their train will keep your kids entertained while you shop.  5207 Harding Pike in Belle Meade.

Shoppes at Fatherland – in East Nashville, this collection of shops has something for everyone on your list. My favorites are Gift Horse and nancybgoods.  1100 Fatherland St. in East Nashville.

Perfect Little Holiday Market – y’all, this is my FAVORITE. Have you been to the Christmas village at Union Square in New York? This reminds me of that. Shop from over 30 small-business vendors, and enjoy a bubbly bar, photo booth, food trucks, wreath station, hot cocoa and photos with Santa. This year, they’ve added the inaugural Germantown Tree Lighting. 11am-5pm at Flats at Taylor Place in Germantown.

The Donelson-Hermitage Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Small Business Saturday drawing for $500! Make a purchase at the participating shops (link here) and get an entry form. My personal favorite is Mill Creek Mercantile (and then grab some lunch at Nectar Urban Cantina across the street).

Small businesses are vital to our city. They are gathering places for neighbors, welcoming spots for visitors and add to the quality of life in our neighborhoods. What are some of your favorite small businesses?
