This week marks the two year anniversary of the disastrous tornado that ripped through Nashville and four counties of Middle Tennessee. Some of our neighbors are still rebuilding and feeling the effects of that night, whether it’s physical rebuilding of homes and business or emotional effects that are triggered during severe weather.
One way to feel more in control of things that are out of our control is to have a plan. A good place to start is ready.gov, a government website with lots of information on making a plan for natural disasters and home safety checklists.
This month, I will be posting emergency preparation tips on my social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn). One aspect of emergency preparation is ensuring you have insured your home and other assets properly. I’ve teamed up with Abby Choate of Carlson Insurance Group to provide you the best expert advice for your homeowner, car and life insurance policies. She’s local, knowledgeable and personable.
Here’s one of Abby’s tips TO DO NOW: Take a video of each room in your house. Open drawers and closets to show all of your belongings. If you’re a spreadsheet person, make a spreadsheet of your personal property (clothing, furniture, electronics, decor, appliances, etc).
As always, I’m here for you, your family and your friends for all things real estate. Let me know how I can help!
